However, they've been staying quite tight-lipped on Starfield's development, which has had its issues such as being delayed after the Cyberpunk 2077 backlash but we will finally get to see more about the game when it is shown off at the upcoming Starfield Direct. Titles such as Redfall were meant to help alleviate the pressure but instead it has sadly left more to be desired. This exclusivity was initially met with hesitation by longtime fans and players, mainly because of how much the Xbox first-party pipeline has dried up, with both Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite leaving massive holes to fill, something that Microsoft has been struggling to do. Despite how successful Bethesda has been, there has been ever increasing pressure put on the developer, especially with regards to its upcoming RPG Starfield, since the ambitious sci-fi title is the first single-player RPG that Bethesda has made in almost a decade.Īnother reason for the mounting pressure on the developer is probably because Starfield is a first-party Xbox exclusive title, a first for the company. This pressure is on due to the company's parent company, ZeniMax being acquired by Microsoft and the fact that Starfield, Bethesda's upcoming space-faring RPG, is the first major title being developed since the acquisition back in 2021.īethesda is well known for releasing games that change gaming as a whole and oftentimes set new standards for their genres, as seen with their previous releases of Skyrim and Fallout 4.
